You arrive and the lodge is already yours
The lodge is arranged around a central living area, with bedrooms extending along two wings. The sitting room, dining room and kitchen form the heart of the lodge, opening onto a veranda overlooking the valley.
There is room for everyone to gather around the table or by the fire, as well as smaller spaces to sit, read or spend time apart.
The lodge is always reserved exclusively for one group at a time. There are no other guests and no shared spaces.
The lodge accommodates up to 25 guests, with capacity for up to 30 by prior arrangement.
Everything is in place when you arrive, with a private chef, dedicated service and daily housekeeping throughout your stay.
Helgavatn is located in Þverárhlíð in Borgarfjörður, West Iceland, approximately 116 km from Reykjavík. The drive takes around 90 minutes.
The lodge stands on a low bluff overlooking the river Þverá, with uninterrupted views across the valley and surrounding countryside. The area is well suited to walking and exploring.
Each season brings a different character to the valley: autumn colours, snow and long winter nights, followed by the returning light and early signs of spring.
A private residence, shared in its own rhythm.
Meals are part of the rhythm of the day, and often some of the best moments of it.
Food is prepared on site, with an emphasis on Icelandic ingredients and the best of each season. Menus are planned around the group and the occasion.
Breakfasts can be long, lunch informal, and evenings spent over dinner, wine and conversation by the fire.
The lodge has fourteen en-suite guest bedrooms, arranged along two wings extending from the central living spaces.
Seven are generous double rooms, three are comfortable single rooms, and four are smaller double rooms.
Additional rooms within the lodge are available for larger groups, bringing the total capacity to 30 when required.
The barrel sauna and hot tub sit just outside the lodge, overlooking the river and the wide valley beyond.
In winter, snow gathers around the deck. On clear nights, the northern lights are often visible directly from the lodge.
